After reports surfaced last week that the developers behind the Pacific Park megaproject were looking to build the largest office tower in Brooklyn, it's now been revealed that Greenland Forest City Partners are actually looking at two sites close to the Barclays Center, DNAinfo reports.
It's already known that the first of the two office buildings will likely rise at the site currently occupied by Modell's and P.C. Richard & Son. This site could eventually see an office with over 1 million square feet of space, if the developers are able to acquire the requisite air rights.
The second will be located on the B4 site to the east of the Barclays Center. That is currently reserved for residential and retail space. But the developer is hoping that since they built a residential building at 461 Dean Street or the B2 site, which was originally commercial, that they can now have rights transferred to the B4 site. Greenland Forest City will have to get the approval of the Empire State Development Corporation to move forward.
There were plans to build affordable housing at the B4 site, but those will be accommodated elsewhere in the megaproject, a representative for the developers told DNAinfo, and the project will continue to have 2,250 units of affordable housing.
At present there's no expected start date on the project.
